Venezi@opportunità communicated the incommunicable and translated it into a strongly innovative institutional communication strategy, aimed to propose itself as a unique territorial marketing benchmark. The idea of the “venetian way of living” is to create an efficient intangible asset available to all the local operators and investors. The project has been shaped on the base of the result of an exclusive market research done by ISPO Researches, which allowed to outline the perception of the “venetianity” among the venetians and to compare it to the general perception of the outside world.
"Anonimo Veneziano" is all this: a brand no-brand that is able to capture for the first time, in history, Venice’s most authentic spirit, converting it into economic value. The project has been presented in preview, the 26th of October 2012 at Scuola Grande di San Rocco, to the institutions, media and citizens.

A pattern of light that shines through the arabesques of the windows and the balustrades or reflects on the waves of the canals. Whoever has passed even just one afternoon, one evening, or a fleeting night between Venice's buildings, knows that the light, together with the water, is really what the city is made of. It’s the light, shining or dusky, of the Lagoon which has forged the character and the style of the Venetians, their irony, their propensity for the new, their extravagance and their sly affability.
The light has always been the source of their colourful flair, multiplying the faces and the colours: "There is only ever water and sky in the Lagoon. It's this lack of colour that has stirred up the creativity, the chromatic nature of the textiles, the architecture, the glass...". A rainbow of craftsmanship and artisan treasures was born from this "special" light: the Venetian red in the silk and the azure of the "murrine", the sparkling of glass pearls and ornate mirrors and the silver and gold of the traditional masks. Venice is made of multi-coloured light.
Venice has many riches. Some are tangible and visible, while others are spread-out and undefined, they can’t be described or depicted, but only experienced. The same goes for the slow-life that venetians have always cultivated and cared for, in every detail. An ease brought on by small, shared rituals, of wine, food and friendliness, meatballs and snacks, musty Lison cellars and creamy cod.
You walk a lot - so people who live there say - but then, it makes no sense to run. The waterways are the synonym par excellence for a healthy lethargy. And it’s precisely this "healthy lethargy", this intimate calm of movement and rhythm, which every visitor should experience.
This is where we should start, to give Venice and her delicate balance, a new idea of tourism, off the beaten tracks and open to an outpouring of life. An experience that leaves the tourist, other than the splendour of the places and monuments, the memory of sensations and deep impressions. Soft sounds, muffled silence and savoury tastes: Venice is made of all this too.
"Here, beauty is free, normal. Offered to everyone", this is what you sometimes hear repeated in Venice's lanes. Because there's no luxury in exclusivity, and the Venetians know. Whether it comes from the Murano glass-blowers, or from the able hands of the lace weavers or from the goldsmiths, the real value of the city comes from what it offers, never refusing anyone; in the generosity of a unique, accessible beauty, open to everyone who knows and can appreciate it.
Venice gives, it doesn’t enshrine, knowing that something's precious only when it is shared. Like ancient know-how, which hails back to the lagoon craftsmen, the masks and the costumes, the ceramics and the lace, keepers of a discreet, yet vibrant and accessible luxury. A wealth of knowledge that mustn’t be lost, but must continue age-old learning whilst making space for new forms of promotion and valorization.
Because "Venice represents the most a person can, humanly, hope to live. Even if only for a little while."
Venice is made of incredible paradoxes. Of contrasts and opposites which merge and confound. This goes for time too: Different styles and centuries superimpose in the facades of the buildings, in the taste of the local food, in the music of the dialect. Through the lanes of Venice, the genius loci will not stay still: it travels through the ages.
For example the "Casoni" are ancient, yet extremely modern, "the first ecological homes, made from straw, cane and wicker, are the ancient abodes of fishermen - and no-one knows.". And it’s in this half state – between past and future, culture and nature – that the city finds its present.
Bring back the past without ruining it, link hand-crafts and industry, history and innovation, tradition and imagination, making it a candidate for a new kind of city: more sustainable, more aware, more balanced. Because in Venice, the future of the city is also in its past.
Tutto è liquido e chiaro, a Venezia.
In Venice, everything's liquid and clear. Water is it's primary element, the amniotic fluid that protects and embraces an embryo of beauty, which renews day after day. It’s the most solid foundation of the uniqueness of this place, a treasure trove of local taste. Not only the fish, but everything that comes from the sea, directly or indirectly, is nourished: "The salty water allows vegetation to grow, which can be found nowhere else. Like Cavallino tomatoes...".
But the water, lyricism aside, is the mobile substance which moves the entire city, the lifeblood that reaches and connects everything. It's the sound of the steamboat, the easing by of the gondola, the fragrance of the algae, the high-tide which imposes and rises.
Nature takes its space, perpetually, between the work of men, and every now and then threatens it. You only need rest your hand on a balustrade or set foot on a bridge to understand it, without doubt: "The water to Venice is everything: its life, the threat of the future and its hope".
